Over 300 pharmacists, doctors, and pharmaceutical distributors, representing more than 100 pharmacies across Cambodia, gathered on August 14, 2025 at Tonlé Bassac II restaurant in Phnom Penh for the annual "PPM VIPs Appreciation Dinner 2025". This event also marked the 30th anniversary of the founding of pharmaceutical company PPM (Pharma Product Manufacturing).
This annual gathering of client-partners was distinguished this year by a unique artistic performance: a chapey dang veng show, a traditional Khmer instrument, delivered by the famous Cambodian artist Duong Sokha. He sang the history of Khmer pharmaceutical products, initiated in the 1960s and now recognized both nationally and internationally.
Due to other obligations, Dr. Hay Ly Eang, General Director of PPM, was unable to attend the event. Nevertheless, he sent a message of gratitude to all partners via a video titled “PPM – 30 Years of Care and Trust”.
“I would like to express my deepest gratitude to all our business partners, doctors, pharmacists, pharmacy owners, and distributors. Today, PPM celebrates its 30th anniversary. Time goes by so quickly—thirty years in the blink of an eye! As the saying goes: ‘A tree has roots, a nation has a history, and the modern pharmacology of our country started with Kinal in 1960.’
When we launched PPM, Cambodia had not yet achieved complete peace. We were convinced that there could be no peace without independence in health. We started producing Kinal in a small villa in Toul Kork. Thanks to confidence, unwavering determination, and the support of all our partners, PPM has flourished nationally and internationally,” he recalled before continuing, “This year marks the 30th anniversary of PPM, a brilliant proof of our success and our unchanged mission: to provide quality pharmaceutical products at affordable prices to all Cambodians, while promoting Khmer medicines abroad. I hope we will continue to work together, hand in hand, for our shared prosperity and for our society.”
Mr. Try Yorn, Deputy General Director in charge of finance and sales at PPM, representing Dr Hay, also expressed his gratitude to the partners present. He highlighted that during the first six months of 2025, PPM recorded exceptional growth never seen before.
“These results would not have been possible without the support of our business partners and pharmacy owners,” he said. “We are a Cambodian company, a leader in the local production and distribution of pharmaceuticals, both domestically and for export. Our products are 100% Khmer.”
Mr. Try Yon also noted that PPM is likely the first company in Cambodia to integrate artificial intelligence (AI) into its daily decision-making processes. “AI helps us to gather valuable information, allowing us to develop and improve our products,” he added.
The evening continued with a buffet shared by all the guests, accompanied by a video retracing PPM’s 30-year history. Participants also had the opportunity to submit coupons for a raffle offering nearly 150 prizes, with the top prize being two motorcycles displayed in the main hall.
